Job Description Trustee (Finance) 

Sporting Equals works to ensure the benefits of sport and physical activity can be experienced by all Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities at their chosen level to build healthier, fairer and stronger communities. We’re seeking an exceptional individual to join our Board and help us to achieve our mission. 

With over 10 years’ experience in the sport sector, Sporting Equals is the UK’s leading promoter of race and faith equality in sport and physical activity. 

We are seeking high profile members to join our influential Board of Trustees, to enhance the skills and experience we need to grow and achieve our ambition. We are particularly keen to recruit a Trustee who: 

• Passionate about race, faith and equality in sport and physical activity 

• Are influential, individuals who are motivated to make their mark in the areas of sport, physical activity, health and/or social inclusion, 

• Have the skills / experience in financial and / or legal matters 

• Good understanding of the barriers facing BAME communities and involvement on Boards in sport and physical activity 

We are specifically seeking to appoint a Trustee who will work with the CEO and Head of Finance to support the finance function in relation the preparation of all financial reports in the business including annual budgets, 3yr financial plans, monthly management accounts and statutory accounts, supporting our existing auditors and ensuring the charity is compliant with best financial governance principles. 

The chosen individual will help devise, implement and maintain effective financial control systems and performance monitoring, analysis and improvement processes which distil insight and drive action within the charity to improve financial performance, helping it to focus on activities which yield best impact whilst complying with best governance principles.
