CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) is responsible for developing and implementing professional standards in the rapidly growing and increasingly important sport and physical activity sector.

The Institute, which was awarded chartered status in 2012, has been tasked by the DCMS and Sport England with "developing and implementing a single, clear and rigorous set of standards for all sport and exercise professionals". It is also mandated to work with Sport England "towards greater professionalisation of the sport sector with a clear skills framework including good quality CPD provision."

Having received additional funding from Sports England in September 2017, and recently appointed a new Chair, the Institute is now looking to recruit a number of independent directors to its Board.
