Head of Commercial Partnerships

We now have an exciting new opportunity for an appropriately experienced individual who can enhance our executive effectiveness, operate with integrity by leading the management, delivery and protection of the British Cycling commercial partner programme, in a manner that will enhance the reputation of British Cycling. 

The role of the Head of Commercial Partnerships is to: 

• Manage and lead on the relationship with British Cycling’s Lead Partner HSBC UK working with all British Cycling departments to achieve a seamless integration and provide maximum return on investment, in line with the shared ambition and societal objectives of British Cycling, Sport England and HSBC UK. 

• Help to build on our medal winning performance by ensuring a strong partnership between the Great Britain Cycling Team and key performance partners including Cervelo, Kalas and SIS. 

• Ensure the Sponsorship Team work proactively with the Lead Partner and the Official Suppliers to support the innovative and highly engaging new rights packages and activations to support Partner and Official Suppliers’ ROO and ROI. 

• Work closely with the Legal team to manage the on-going and outstanding commercial issues / areas of risk. 

• Work alongside the Commercial Director in implementing and evolving the broader commercial strategy. 

• Lead and manage the rider engagement strategy and have overall responsibility for rider appearances for all stakeholders including commercial partners, internal departments and UK Sport. 

• Work with riders and their agents to ensure riders are compliant with the commercial terms of the rider agreement. 

• Build strong strategic links with key partners, for example, the UCI and other National Governing Bodies of Sport to further business partnership opportunities and strengthen customer relations. 

• Oversee the management of any agencies retained by British Cycling to measure the effectiveness of their commercial partnerships ensuring they have requisite information to provide ongoing reviews on the profile of British Cycling, its commercial value and its areas of potential growth. 

What you need: 

A degree in a relevant area or sport related discipline, or equivalent workplace experience together with experience of working with high performance athletes / talent and their agents / representation. 

Excellent knowledge of commercial, corporate and NGB drivers and a good understanding of domestic cycle sport with good knowledge of the disciplines. Proven strong credentials of operating within the commercial sports rights world with demonstrable experience and expertise in rights delivery, innovation and protection is essential. 

A strong strategic mind-set and the ability to think imaginatively about new partnerships and opportunities. 

Outstanding communication skills and the charisma and adaptability to interact across all levels of management, employees and stakeholders.
