Independent Director & Chair of Finance and Audit Committee
Location: Flexible (Most meetings held at the National Watersports Centre, Nottingham)
Job Description
British Canoeing is seeking to appoint an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board, with significant financial management experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also be the Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- A good understanding of corporate governance and an appreciation of operating within a voluntary organisation with many partnership and stakeholder relationships.
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA or equivalent).
- Significant experience in finance and the audit process to guide on the preparation of statutory accounts and lead on best practice of financial procedures and controls.
- An interest in charities or not for profit sector
- An interest and involvement in the sport is desirable but not essential. This is a voluntary position.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Fulfill the responsibilities required of a Director of British Canoeing Ltd
- Chair the Finance and Audit Committee
- Provide oversight and scrutiny of budgeting, financial policies, procedures and controls
- Support the preparation and presentation of year end accounts
