Hours of work: 3 days a week

About Sport Tech Hub:

Sport Tech Hub is the first physical technology incubator dedicated to supporting start-ups from SportTech, FitTech and HealthTech. Established and operated by London Sport, Sport Tech Hub exists to increase the power of technology to positively influence physical activity and sport in the capital and beyond.

Purpose of the Role:

To lead, drive and implement the Sport Tech Hub incubator programme and support London Sport’s work on using technology and data to get people active. This will involve supporting London’s technology start-up ecosystem to ensure it continues to flourish, and as a bi-product help more people to become physically active.

Location:

The role will be located primarily in the House of Sport in central London but travel to attend meetings and carry out other work-related duties will be required across London and occasionally beyond.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Programme Delivery: 

· Responsible in leading and implementing the Sport Tech Hub programme and range of workshops, seminars and mentoring sessions already programmed

· Engage with start-ups which are part of the existing cohort to ensure maximum attendance within the programme.

· Engage with programme partners and mentors to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.

· Lead the Sport Tech Hub steering group made up of London Sport colleagues which add value to the programme.

· Maintain speedy and concise communication with the start-ups that are part of the current cohort, partners, mentors, steering group and other stakeholders.

· Use of existing digital tools (LinkedIn, Slack, Microsoft Teams) and the creation and development of online tools to support the cohort’s maximum engagement.

· Engage with relevant London Sport staff allowing start-ups to access the sport sector effectively 

Programme Maintenance and Enhancement:

· Understand the start-ups that are part of Sport Tech Hub and continually drive the programme to reflect their needs and maintain programme relevance.

· Develop new innovative, effective and measurable approaches to engage with our Sport Tech Hub network.

· Leverage the Sport Tech Hub to achieve shared objectives and support London Sport initiatives.

· Spend time in the market getting to know other incubators, competitors, customers and potential partners.

· Continually build Sport Tech Hub’s potential mentors and partners network

Programme Evaluation:

· Work with London Sport’s insight team to develop and implement programme measures of success.

· Produce regular reports on the success of the programme

· Use this feedback to continually refine the Sport Tech Hub programme.

· Support a strategy, vision and recommendation for future programmes through consultation with Sport Tech Hub members and network.

Building a Profile

· Work with London Sport’s Event Lead to create Sport Tech Hub related events, including breakfast meet-ups, mid-day roundtables, dinner and drinks socials.

· Grow and curate engagement with external events to support the Sport Tech Hub community and start-up ecosystem.

· Externally represent the Sport Tech Hub along with London Sport’s Specialist Advisor – Technology for Participation, raising awareness of our brand and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement with key stakeholders within the wider ecosystem – start-ups, journalists, investors, partners and more.

· Work with London Sport’s Marketing Team to provide content and support for Sport Tech Hub’s external marketing and communications strategy.

· Network and attend relevant community events to continually source partners and experts who can add value to the Sport Tech Hub programme.

Future Sport Tech Hub Start-ups Onboarding – pending on continuation of the post

· Develop the application process for start-ups to be part of future cohorts.

· Grow the pipeline of start-ups interested in applying to be part of the Sport Tech Hub and manage incoming queries during the application stage.

· Work with the Sport Tech Hub steering group and lead the use of suitable networks and partners to promote future application rounds.

· Lead a clear reviewing and shortlisting process for selected start-ups using the steering group, partners and mentors.

Person Specification and Selection Criteria: 

Essential skills and experience 

· Experience of project management; developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programmes

· A creative thinker that will thrive within an innovative and leading initiative.

· Process driven and ability to execute a plan. 

· Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

· A track-record of initiating, developing and managing positive relationships or customer services.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to enthuse, persuade, negotiate and influence in the spoken word and in writing.

· An excellent knowledge and understanding of the sport & physical activity environment and stakeholders, particularly in London OR excellent knowledge and understanding of start-ups and tech ecosystem.

· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise and meet deadlines.

· Friendly and personable with great communication skills.

· Ability to demonstrate a practical commitment to the Values and Behaviours of London Sport.

· Ability to work under pressure and adopt a flexible approach to working methods.

· Good working knowledge of IT & Microsoft packages.  

· Ability to demonstrate an understanding of equality, diversity and safeguarding and its practical application.

· A commitment to personal development.

Desirable

· Experienced in sales, business development, marketing, PR.

· Knowledge of the tech and start-up ecosystem in London or being part of a start-up.

· Knowledge and understanding of the sport & physical activity environment and stakeholders, particularly in London OR knowledge and understanding of start-ups and tech ecosystem
