Job Description

England Hockey is recruiting for a Partnerships Officer to provide support to our existing and additional sponsors and partners. Following the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, we have seen an unprecedented rise in participation at all levels. This has been accompanied with an increased interest in the corporate landscape. 

Our partners include companies such as Investec, Adidas, Harrogate Water and other well-known brands investing in the sport. This also provides a fantastic opportunity to attract new sponsors and to maximise existing sponsors/partners’ potential by proposing creative and innovative activation programmes. 

Within this role in 2018 the successful applicant will also be involved in the rights and activation delivery for the Hockey Women’s World Cup partners. This will be an unprecedented opportunity to work with large and exciting sponsors in what will be the biggest hockey event hosted in the UK. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Proactively support delivering rights all year round 

• Obtain detailed knowledge of all existing rights, working with the Partnerships Manager to ensure commercial partners’ rights are effectively delivered. 

• Liaise with the Communications, Events and Marketing Teams, as well as others in the business, to ensure Partner’s benefits are maximised 

• Provide 1st class admin support to our partners with a view to building relationships to facilitate an account management role. 

• Work creatively with the partnerships manager to add value to Partner packages and bring alive rights for mutual benefit 

• Work closely with the Partnerships Manager to create activation strategies to maximise client satisfaction with a view to potentially taking ownership for specific client projects 

• Take full responsibility for partner related matchday accreditation and ticketing 

• Take full responsibility of The 1908 Club, England Hockey’s business club, to ensure members’ benefits are delivered and to reduce churn 

• Contribute as part of the Events Team to ensure quality VIP experiences at England Hockey matches and events 

• Support the Partnerships Manager to maintain partner relationships and grow the England Hockey brand 

• Support the delivery of an annual partners event to engender a community spirit amongst England Hockey Partners 

• Maintain comprehensive records and administration of partnerships 

• Ensure that all invoices are sent to each Partner on time and paid up 

• Attend major match and event days as required 

• Any other reasonable management requests 

Person Specification 

Qualifications and Experience 

• Educated to Graduate level or equivalent 

• Proven track record of successful account management experience 

• A good understanding of rights delivery in a sponsorship environment 

• A knowledge of marketing and communications functions to aid delivery of rights. 

• Experience of successfully managing relationships both internally and externally 

• Evidence of a resilient, tenacious and action orientated approach, focused on achieving successful outcomes 

• An understanding of hockey and a general passion for sport 

• Experience of working in sports marketing is highly desirable 

Skills and Abilities 

• Clear and accurate written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to positively influence clients and colleagues 

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work cross functionally across the business 

• Commercial acumen with the ability to think laterally and seek out new opportunities 

• Excellent attention to detail and high standards 

• A results-orientated mentality 

• Experience of using creative thinking and an innovative approach to meeting challenges 

• Ability to forge strong relationships and a team player 

• Ability to think strategically but with a preparedness to muck in 

• Proficient at MS Office or equivalent packages
