Performance Pathway Manager

Salary: £33,750 to £44,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)

Location: Lilleshall National Sports Centre (Newport, Shropshire)

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the vision and mission of the British Gymnastics Performance Team through the delivery of a systematic and highly effective Performance Pathway, that identifies, nurtures and develops athletes who have the ability to win medals at the Olympic Games and major senior Championships

The Role 

• To design, communicate and deliver British Gymnastics Performance Pathway strategy 

• Develop and implement an induction/exit process for those athletes transitioning onto/off National and World Class Programmes 

• Work in partnership with the Performance Coaches, Performance Science & Medicine practitioners and experts in the field of Talent Identification to develop and validate Gymnastic specific talent/performance profiles 

• Facilitate the closer alignment and seamless connectivity between the WCP and Home Nation activity 

• Manage and deliver the England Talent programme across all disciplines of the England Gymnastics Association (EGA) 

• Provide effective line management to the Performance Pathway & England Talent staff 

• Communicate effectively and proactively with the departments functional units 

• Provide positive and professional leadership to help a team that is striving towards fulfilling the vision and mission of the Tokyo Plan 

• Engage with the Performance Leadership Team 

• Engage fully with personal review processes to identify training needs and a personalised CPD programme that will enhance the departments performance for the benefit of athletes 

The Person 

The ideal individual will have/be able to demonstrate: 

• A high level of understanding in the areas of Talent Development, Talent Identification, Athlete Development and Performance Pathway Science 

• Effective communication skills, both verbally and in written form 

• Ensures own behaviours are aligned to the BG Performance departments philosophy, values and behaviours 

• IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Applications 

• Welcomes feedback and considers it carefully 

• Works well with others as part of a team 

• Encourages collaboration between colleagues to create a strong team-working environment 

• Highly self-motivated and able to work under her / his own direction to achieve stated objectives within the necessary timescales. 

• Provides positive leadership traits and able to inspire and influence athletes and colleagues. 

• Ensures Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to 

• Works in a flexible and agile manner to meet the needs of the programme, athlete and colleagues 

• Learns to make first impressions count. Is friendly and optimistic with people s/he meets.
