Executive Director of Education

Location: Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands 

The Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking a qualified and experienced leader to drive the Association’s Educational activities

Established in 1901, the PGA offers support to its Members throughout their career, educating and training PGA professionals to operate in all areas of golf.  

Based at PGA National Training Academy, Ping House, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, the Executive Director of Education will be a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting to the Chief Executive, being responsible for leading all education activity for the PGA both within the UK (primarily) and internationally.  

Principal objectives include:

· Being a key contributor to organizational strategic decisions in relation to Education for PGA Members and developing an education departmental strategy;

· Leading the department to provide high quality, industry relevant education;

· Acting in a PR capacity to attract and retain students, PGA Members and other delegates/industry representatives to engage in PGA Education;

· Maximising the growth of and being responsible for generating income from PGA education worldwide;

· Growing relationships with commercial partners and key funding bodies to ensure a sustainable financial underpinning for PGA companywide activities;

· Promote effective working relationships externally (with Educational and golfing bodies/partnerships in particular) and internally with all PGA departments and regions. 

As well as holding the relevant higher level qualification, the ideal candidate will be creative, innovative and a driver of change.   Essential experience includes:  development of distance learning and structured educational programmes; a sound knowledge of financial management including responsibility for budgets; previous employment in a senior level role; proven leadership skills; and a background in ‘customer’ and commercial service delivery. 

Having a thorough understanding of educational procedures, service management delivery challenges and opportunities within the Higher Education sector; the ability to deliver at a strategic level while effectively managing operational performance; building productive and mutually beneficial collaborative relationships; as well as leading, inspiring and motivating multiple small teams are amongst the key competences to succeed in this role.  

As well as being commercially and financially astute, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate confidence, experience and influence at Board and Senior Management level and will be an experienced and effective people manager.  

This is a permanent, full time role with core hours of the business being from 9 am until 5 pm Monday to Friday.  A degree of travel (occasionally internationally) will be required.
