Before starting the recruitment of volunteers it is important you have done the background and considered why you want volunteers and what they should do (please see Volunteer Role Description). Having considered the need and skills of the volunteers procedures have to be designed to make sure that:

  • The word get out that you are recruiting.
  • How prospective volunteers should apply and how to deal with application.
  • If volunteers should be interviewed and if how these interviews should be conducted.
  • How volunteers are selected and any appointment procedures such as CRB checks etc.
  • How to handle refusal of any candidates.
