Recruitment

Before starting the recruitment of volunteers it is important you have done the background and considered why you want volunteers and what role they will play in the organisation (please see the volunteer role description).

Having considered the need and skills of the volunteers procedures have to be designed to make sure that:

  • the word gets out that you are recruiting
  • information on how prospective volunteers should apply and systems with how to deal with applications are provided
  • the process by which volunteers should be interviewed and how these interviews will be conducted
  • the process by which volunteers are selected and any appointment procedures such as CRB checks are in place
  • the process whereby the organisation knows how to deal with the refusal of any candidates.
