As volunteers are not paid, it is important that organisations consider their development and other suitable rewards in recognition of the time and effort they put into volunteering.

Ensuring that volunteers have the possibility to develop skills useful for finding paid employment can be extremely important.  In addition, volunteers should know that they are valued and feel they are getting something back which will motivate them and save the organistion time and resources recruiting and training new volunteers.
