We will ensure our members’ interests are protected during the merger of Sport England and UK Sport, and throughout any changes to funding or strategies

New Year's Resolutions

In 2012, we commit to doing everything we can to ensure that the best interests of sport are served before, during and after the merger of Sport England and UK Sport. We will also do the same in relation to changes in the Government's sports strategy or in the way sport is funded.

The Government has said that UK Sport and Sport England will merge following the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The process of how that will happen is currently being determined by a team led by Sir Keith Mills. We will focus on delivering the best possible outcomes from the merger for the sport and recreation sector.

  • We will represent and advocate the views of our members on how the re-organisation can best serve sport
  • We will highlight any potential problems in the proposed merger and use our influence to ensure that they are addressed
  • We will work with Sport England, UK Sport and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to ensure that there are no gaps in funding or service provision as the merger takes place.
