In 2012, we commit to improving the governance of the sector as a whole.

2011 saw a number of high profile examples of sport and recreation organisations running into trouble with their governance.

Put simply, organisations with good governance make better decisions and are more effective bodies. So, in 2012, we will commit to doing more to promote good governance in the sector and amongst our members.

• Using the Voluntary Code of Good Governance, which was written by the sector, for the sector, we will promote seven key principles of good practice and get as many of our members as possible to commit to ‘Signing up to the Code'
• We will provide practical help and advice to signatories on their journey to improve their governance
• We will create tools and documents to make improvements as easy and simple to implement as possible.
