What is the course?

The two-day training course is designed to provide you with an overview of the key duties, roles and legal responsibilities of a board member, coupled with an overview of the sport and recreation sector. It focuses on how to work as an effective board member within this specific and sometimes complex environment.

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for existing board members, senior executives and aspiring board members of sport and recreation organisations who are looking to increase the value they provide to their organisations and gain a better understanding about the crucial role they play.

Course material and accreditation

Attendees will be provided with course materials prepared by the Institute of Directors and a copy of the IOD publication ‘The Directors’ Handbook’, alongside materials prepared by the Sport and Recreation Alliance.

Attendees will also receive a certificate of attendance signed by representatives of the Institute of Directors and the Sport and Recreation Alliance.

Can your whole Board attend the course?

We have worked with the IOD to put together an attractive and discounted package which will provide a bespoke course for your full Board instead of sending them as individuals to the course in London.

Please note that a cancellation before 30 days of the course can be re-funded in full.  A cancellation received within 30 days of the course is not eligible for a refund and the fee must be paid in full.
