The Sports Club Pledge

Printer-friendly version

The Sport and Recreation Alliance invites Parliamentarians to show support for grassroots sport and recreation clubs by signing up to the Sports Club Pledge.

The pledge comprises of four commitments:

  1. To support the campaign for Gift Aid on junior members' subscriptions for Community Amateur Sports Clubs.
  2. To engage with clubs, the local authority and the County Sports Partnership to discuss issues affecting sport and recreation locally.
  3. To support the 'Lighter Later' campaign, which makes the case for moving the clocks forward an hour all year round.
  4. To support the Sport and Recreation Alliance in its negotiations with music licensers to ensure a fair deal for clubs.

The pledge was launched at the 'Club Together' Parliamentary reception on 25 October 2011. A number of useful documents were distributed at that event to assist Parliamentarians with their efforts to protect and promote grassroots sport, and these can be downloaded using the links below.

If you wish to sign up to the pledge, or would like to request further information about any aspect of the Alliance's work in Parliament, please contact sbutler@sportandrecreation.org.uk
