Regional Club and County Manager- South West
Location: This is a mobile role based in the South West region
Salary: Circa £30,000 dependent on experience, excellent benefits including a company car
About the role
The South West regional team plays a vital role in driving the LTA mission to get more people playing tennis, more often. Supporting a growing tennis population across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Dorset, Somerset, Avon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Devon & Cornwall, there is a significant opportunity to drive new participation in tennis. There is a strong tennis landscape including 450 tennis clubs, 80 park sites & 20 Community Indoor Tennis Centres.
The role has responsibility for working with tennis clubs and community indoor tennis facilities to enable their growth in participation by;
· Leading clubs & Community Indoor Tennis Centres (CITCs) to create a development plan and annual work programme in conjunction with colleagues in the region, targeting growth in selected venues and areas
· Driving the growth of clubs by guiding coaches, organisers & committees throughout the year, providing regular support & co-ordinated forum delivery
· To lead on ensuring expert support for Clubs, including the sharing of best practise & promoting tennis through the LTA campaigns, programmes, products & competitions
· To be responsible for developing networks of club meetings across the region, encouraging clubs to work together, engage their local partners and do more to grow their membership & player base whilst improving the experience for their existing players
Key Accountabilities
Club and CITC Support
· Be responsible for building support to the network of Clubs & CITCs in the region, targeting an increase in membership, unique participants & players on programmes whilst understanding financial performance
o Work with identified venues to create & deliver high quality development plans that include:
· Key measures & outcomes linked to growth areas for the year / multiple years
· Detailed insight & financial analysis to ensure growth & sustainability
· Establish robust marketing plans appropriate to the local area
· Modernisation of operating models with technology, marketing & people developments
· Increasing the role of the Club / CITC in its local community by targeted work in parks and education establishments
· The delivery of appropriate LTA programmes, products & campaigns
· Ensuring the venue is open, accessible & inclusive
· Attraction of external grant & loan funds to develop facilities & opportunities
· Development of people within the venue to achieve best practise
· Be accountable for developing networks of clubs across the region to share best practise, deliver training & updates and be a direct support to their growth aspirations through;
o Delivery of a calendar of forums, clinics, networking meetings aimed at getting venues to work together, modernise & grow
o Supporting our partners to understand our work, directly linking into County Associations, County Sports Partnerships, Football Clubs and other key community partners that support our work in clubs & CITCs
General
· To work with regional team colleagues to create the regional plan for clubs & CITCs
· To establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners throughout the year, ensuring key personnel are engaged and supporting our mission
· To provide exceptional day to day support to our network of clubs & CITCs, liaising, supporting & motivating them to grow & modernise their venue
· To be an ambassador for British Tennis positively promoting the sport and those that work and volunteer within it
· To provide quarterly club reports and regular updates on participation numbers
· Identify, collate and share best practice within the club network, through case studies/newsletter articles etc.
Person Specification
Essential
· Working with a wide range of tennis or leisure facilities to help them grow
· Customer relationship management with the ability to empathise with and influence a wide range of stakeholders
· Presenting new ideas to potential partners and achieving buy in
Desirable
· Developing funding opportunities with a range of partners
· Working in a NGB or equivalent environment particularly where there are County Association partnerships .
Knowledge, Training & Qualifications:
Essential
· Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to liaise and communicate with people at all levels
· Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
· Competent IT skills (Word/ Excel/PowerPoint/Databases/Microsoft Office/internet)
· Full Driving Licence
· A satisfactory DBS disclosure
· An understanding of the wider sports network and the elements involved in developing sports in Club, Community and Education settings
· An understanding of local, County, Regional and National Tennis structures
Desirable
· Sports development and/or sports facility management qualifications
