Job Description

The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, is the national governing body for the sport of sailing and the Racing Department is responsible for all aspects of sail racing, including windsurfing.

Racing Operations Manager

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join the Racing Department, including the UK Sport World Class Programmes.

The Racing Department has over 40 employees and approximately 150 external support staff and coaches working on programmes.

The Racing Operations Manager is based at RYA house in Hamble and will report to the Director of Racing. They will be responsible for supporting the Director of Racing in the effective running of the Racing Department by co-ordinating strategic plans, financial management of the departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements and overseeing administrative processes.

Additionally they will be responsible for providing management oversight of the Racing Department’s resources and the facilities in Weymouth and Portland.

The accountabilities of the post holder will include but are not limited to:

· Co-ordinate the production of , and periodically update the Racing Department’s strategic Plan, including the World Class programme and all other racing activities, to ensure their continued relevance and funding them at an optimum level

· Prepare, monitor and control the Department’s budget for both World Class and RYA programmes under the direction of the Director of Racing and in conjunction with the Programme Managers and Financial Controller

· Prepare, monitor and control the Portland House budget and spend, under the direction of the Portland Management Group. This includes management of the lead super users of the Portland House Booking System and online Booking System

· Act as a point of contact with UK Sport for grant awards, and manage compliance with the conditions of grant and report progress to ensure that their statutory and regulatory requirements are met

· Manage and produce grant award submissions to the Sports Councils

· Act as the RYA’s Anti-Doping Officer in order to ensure that the RYA and relevant sailors and support staff are aware of their obligations and requirements

Oversee departmental processes and control policy documents covering the management of staff and contractors, sponsorship, anti-doping, safety, child protection and similar matters, in conjunction with the Legal and HR departments
