Job Description

» To deliver an effective and inclusive talent system that produces higher quality athletes at every level. 

» Provide increased opportunities and access to the talent system for all athletes with potential. 

» Integrate the talent system across clubs, talent academies, youth and senior performance programmes. 

» Deliver a structured annual strategy to supply the Powerlifting World Class Program with medal potential. 

BWL funded by Sport England and UK Sport is committed to create an ever-improving talent pathway and an ever-increasing number of appropriate experiences to prepare athletes to fulfil their potential. Talented athletes will be given the opportunity to develop with our goal of winning international medals across both men’s and women’s, senior and youth programmes. In addition to international success, the EPM will build and implement  a Talent Pathway that is inclusive and offers support for the broader talent pool across England and Great Britain (weightlifting and powerlifting respectively) ensuring athletes in clubs and key hubs have the opportunity to  improve, fulfil their potential and achieve personal success at a level appropriate to them.  

Responsibilities

» To work as an integral member of the BWL Performance Team and ensure the implementation of the BWL Talent Strategy in conjunction with the CEO, BWL Development Director and Para Performance Director. 

» To work with the Paralympic Performance Director to develop robust systems and structures that  systematically capture, confirm and develop future medallists for the Para Powerlifting World Class programme aligned with UK Sport Talent Health Check. 

» Work with the Paralympic Performance Director to monitor Individual Athlete Plans for identified Talent Confirmation Athletes. 

» To co-ordinate talent confirmation training days and educational experiences for Powerlifting Talent Confirmation Athletes. 

» Work with the CEO to develop all Weightlifting selection policies relating to the International Competition and pathway squad programmes. 

» Work with the Head of Coaching to monitor the development of Individual Athlete Plans for identified England Senior athletes. 

» To lead the operational management of the England Talent Pathway squad programme, from Talent Academies, National Youth to the England Senior Programme. 

» To coordinate the operational management of Great Britain teams at international weightlifting competitions 

» To work with the BWL Development Director and England Head of coaching to ensure that the England Talent Pathway is delivering the appropriate quantity and quality of athletes to the England Senior Programme 

» Deploy a National Tracking and Monitoring system that captures real-time key development markers of identified athletes from Talent academy level progressing through to Senior Programme squads. 

» Work with the BWL Development Director and key members of the BWL Performance team and Home  Nations’ leads, to develop and publish the National Curriculum of Performance Development that defines the precise skills, competencies and abilities required at each stage of development. 

» Work closely with UK Sport, Sport England and other sports to capture and utilise best practice.

Knowledge, Experience and Capabilities

» Proven experience in talent development and talent transfer within elite sport environments. 

» Demonstrated the ability to analyse the effectiveness of sports athlete pathways and identify system and technical interventions to increase promotion rates of athletes within it.  » Experience of coordinating and quality controlling multidisciplinary teams and expert consultants to enhance the successful delivery of athlete pathways. 

» Experience in performance modelling and in the use, development and management of performance data to inform decision making. 

» Experience of collaborating with and navigating a sporting community to work effectively in partnership with key stakeholders.  The working hours are usually 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday with a half hour lunch with further flexibility from time to time. Some weekend cover is required for events.
