Coach Developer (Talent)- Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre

Salary Range: £30,551 - £44,500   

Responsible to: Strategic Lead - Talent

Main Purpose of Job:  

To provide individualised and in-situ support to talent coaches across a variety of sports, in order to improve their coaching practice.

Key Tasks:

· Conducting needs analyses of the talent coaches.

· Facilitating the production of individualised development plans for talent coaches and monitoring progress.

· Attending training sessions and/or competitions in order to provide in-situ observation, questioning and feedback.

· Helping the coach to reflect upon experience and embed learning in order to positively impact future coaching.

· Assisting the coach in their effectiveness in working with other key personnel within the development system.

· Facilitating meetings with multiple coaches and/or other key personnel.

· Compiling updates and reports in preparation for our funding partners.

· Attending, facilitating and delivering coach development workshops.

· Working as part of a coach developer team and contributing to the aspirations of the talent team.

· Following and promoting the mission, values and policies of Sports Coach UK internally and externally.

· Following, promoting and implementing Sports Coach UK's policies for the equal treatment of all employees, applicants and customers.

· Undertaking any other tasks appropriate to this level of responsibility. 

Person Specification

The person specification describes the knowledge, skills, aptitudes, experience and qualifications that Sports Coach UK deems necessary for successful performance in the job role.

Skills: 

· Ability to build rapport and trust quickly developing positive relationships and networks.

· Highly effective questioning and discussion techniques.

· Comfortable working in 1-to-1 situations and facilitating larger group workshops.

· Able to support the process of development planning including regular goal setting & review.

· Finely-tuned observation and analysis skills.

· Excellent report writing skills.

· Managing change through supportive facilitation.

· Comfortable with the use of technology in coaching (IT, video capture).

· Car owner with a current, clean driving licence.

· Pedagogical principles underpinning effective coaching practice.

· Applied understanding of goal setting and monitoring processes.

· Applied understanding of behaviour change and supporting individuals to initiate change.

Experience: 

· Must have experience of working in at least 3 of the following: 

· A learning and development role.

· Running, managing or coaching development programmes.

· A role working in an elite sporting environment.

· A coach development role in a high performance environment.

· A people development role.
