Chief Executive Officer

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (subject to experience)

Location: Ingham, Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will be required to travel locally and to occasional national events

Job Purpose

A Chief Executive Officer is required to lead the newly established Active Lincolnshire (formerly known as Lincolnshire Sport) to develop physical activity across Lincolnshire. The CEO assumes overall responsibility, accountability and authority within the organisation, inspiring and leading our team to deliver our vision and purpose as a high performing business. With the recent launch of Active Lincolnshire, this is an ideal opportunity for an innovative, forward thinking professional to lead and inspire staff and other stakeholders to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and consistency as we seek to get more people, more active, more often.

Strategy, Business Planning and Delivery:

· Create, communicate and implement the organisation’s vision, mission, and overall direction with the Board, Team and Stakeholders. 

· Lead the development and implementation of the overall organisation’s business plan.

· Provide strategic leadership and direct the day-to-day operations of Active Lincolnshire and position it as the primary organisation for the development and promotion of community sport and physical activity in Lincolnshire.

Leadership and Advocacy:

· Develop and maintain excellent relationships with national and local partners and stakeholders, ensuring the optimum shape and positioning for Active Lincolnshire in the national and local landscape

· Lead the organisation towards evidence based, insight led, person centred ways of working aligned with national and local strategies and direction.

·  Influence relevant policy and practice at national and regional level and in other sectors and organisations.

·  Engage in high-level advocacy to ensure cross sector understanding and commitment to the value of physical activity to achieve health, social, community and economic outcomes.

·  Ensure that the organisation’s national reputation is maintained as one of the leading County Sports Partnership in the Country.

·  Represent the organisation at key civic and professional events.

·  Hold the team responsible and accountable for carrying out all aspects of the business and delivery plans to an excellent standard.

Board and Team:

· Ensure that the organisation structure and team are always fit for purpose to support the strategic and operational delivery of the strategy / business plan.

· Ensure the organisation is fit for purpose to deliver against a new Sport England contract and local strategies.

· Ensure that the organisations’ leadership maintains constant awareness of the external and internal landscape, emerging evidence and opportunities to optimise deliver against the vision and purpose.

· Lead, guide, direct and evaluate the work of organisational leaders.

· Take responsibility for the support and professional development of the team to ensure that the organisation meets all its employment and welfare responsibilities and is seen as a caring organisation pursuing excellence.

· Ensure that the business and delivery plans are measurable and that the outcomes are shared by the Board and teams.

Company Board and Corporate Governance:

· Oversee the recruitment of Board and team members to ensure the organisation is fit to deliver the purpose.

· Serve at the discretion of the Board of Directors in all matters of business.

· Ensure the Board is fully up to date on the delivery of the business plan and strategy.

· Work effectively with and report to the Board of Directors on all strategic matters of delivery, staffing, finance, risk and corporate governance.

· Determine annual budgets, supporting key leaders within the team to plan, monitor and report finance effectively.

· Provide leadership in the formulation and implementation of organisational policies and, in so doing, support operational plans which promote and sustain the work of the organization.

· Solicit advice and guidance, when appropriate, from the Board, advisors and national partners.

· Evaluate the success of the organisation in reaching its goals.

· Ensure that the organisation is complaint and that all legal and good practice is being met in finance, governance, health and safety, safeguarding, equality and diversity

· Ensure that organisational leaders are motivated to deliver excellence, through reward and recognition and coaching.
