Communications Officer

Salary: £13,500 per annum 

Hours: 15 hours per week

Contract: Initially 12-month contract only

Location: Primarily from home, but will be expected to attend our Head Office at the Plas Menai National Watersports Centre from time to time, and to attend events

The Royal Yachting Association Cymru Wales (RYA CW) is the National Governing Body for all boating related matters in Wales and the RYA’s Regional Council for Wales. 

RYA CW is seeking to appoint a part time Communications Officer. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be primarily responsible for developing and delivering the communications plan for RYA CW. 

Main Responsibilities

· Liaising with the RYA head office, managing social media marketing campaigns, and day-to-day activities including to:

o Develop relevant content topics to reach RYA Cymru Wales’ target participants.

o Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written).

o Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “social” way.

o Conduct online advocacy.

o Oversee design (ie: Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, Blog, etc.).

o Design, create and manage promotions and social ad campaigns.

o Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation. Monitor online reviews and respond to each review.

o Analyse key metrics and tweak strategy as needed.

o Compile reports for management showing results 

· Become an advocate for the sport in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.

· Monitor effective benchmarks (Best Practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results. 

Requirements

· Bilingual Welsh / English preferable.

· A passion for boating preferable.

· Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing. Marketing degree is welcomed but not required with relevant work experience.

· Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.

· Maintains excellent writing and language skills.

· Enjoys a working knowledge of the blogging ecosystem

· Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress. 

The starting salary will be £13,500 per annum for a 15 hours per week flexible contract. Initially, this will be a 12-month contract only. You will work primarily from home, but will be expected to attend our Head Office at the Plas Menai National Watersports Centre from time to time, and to attend events.
