Governance and Compliance Officer
c. £30,000

An exciting new post has been created to work with the Head of Finance and Governance, who is based in Birmingham, to deliver effective governance, administration and support services to the England Athletics Board of Directors, sub committees and council structures.

Major responsibilities include:
  • The provision of excellent governance and administrative support to the Board that meets 6-8 times a year
  • Administration for and attendance at 4 National Council meetings a year including minute taking and following up on agreed actions
  • Maintenance of a governance administration system to support England Athletics in meeting its legal and regulatory requirements
  • Managing England Athletics’ policies and procedures providing advice on compliance as required
  • Acting as the first point of contact for Directors ensuring completion of induction, annual appraisals and exposure to development opportunities relevant to their role
  • Maintenance of accurate records of Directors’ hospitality and gifts, expenses, training and board meeting attendance
  • Coordinating the annual Board calendar
  • Working in partnership with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance at Head Office in Birmingham

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a significant background in governance for a not for profit organisation, be skilled in minute taking, highly IT literate and have the ability to analyse information from a range of sources in order to make effective decisions. Highly developed communications skills are essential as is the ability to handle confidential information and maintain effective working relationships with Board members and senior managers. A good basic knowledge of health and safety protocols or a willingness to be trained to IOSH level will also be an essential requirement.
