British Fencing in partnership with England Fencing are seeking to recruit a Regional Liaison Officer (England) to join British Fencing’s small but dynamic Development Team.

Working across England and reporting to the Development Director the Regional Liaison Officer (England) will be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and improvement of initiatives that help to support the aims and objectives of The England Regions and their clubs.

The British Fencing vision for the future development of the sport is to create ‘An innovative and agile development programme that consistently delivers insight-led growth, empowering individuals and welcoming a new community to Swordplay’. To work towards this vision the Regional Liaison Officer (England) will utilise the knowledge and expertise of the Development Team to provide the necessary advice and guidance to The Regions and their clubs. This may include the following:

  • Help drive insight-led participation growth through targeted product development;
  • Generate a portfolio of community fencing programmes that deliver positive impact in society
  • through inclusion and empowerment;
  • Where required, encourage a sustainable network of formal relationships with local and
  • National delivery partners;
  • Assist the Coaching Development Manager to establish and maintain a fit for purpose Workforce
  • Development programme;
  • Formulate an effective communication strategy to share best practice, learning and market Insight between British Fencing, England Fencing and the Regional Teams.
The successful applicant is likely to have experience of delivering projects and activities which have led to increases in participation and engagement particularly in a volunteer-led
environment. Communication skills with the ability to translate customer insight into improvement objectives that are understood by The Regions is critical. A proven ability to
develop strong professional relationships and managing budgets is also desirable.
